Our Mission

OPENING UP THE GATE

As of 2019, less than 7% of U.S. airline flight crews are minorities. Many underrepresented youth do not see or believe opportunities in the aviation industry are open to them. There are a number of reasons why they lack vision: lack of access, no clear path to success, lack of funds and cultural barriers. Our strategy is to face these hurdles head-on with an effective plan that enables young people to see and master aviation opportunities.

What Do They Mean?

  • Our Emblem:

    • The lowercase "a" stands for aviation, achievement, access, altitude and academy which is a core differentiator. It also represents youth.

    • The Red Tail: The red color with the yellow tab derives from the Tuskegee Airmen plane who painted the tail of their planes red with yellow tabs.  The shape of the tail comes from an Eagle's tail, which represents stability. The Eagle represents vision, leadership, confidence, overcoming any obstacle,

    • The five red tail feathers represent the five phases of our program.

  • Our Logo:

    • The blue circle along with a star and white rectangle box pays ode to the Tuskegee Airmen airplane, which represents a group of professional African Americans breaking barriers in aviation.

  • Our Colors:

    • Red - Strength, passion, determination

    • Blue - Sky, confidence, stability
